We often get requests from people who are looking at purchasing our cables used on the Internet and want to get modifications made.
As a general policy we do not do these modifications on used cables. This policy is consistent with other audio cable brands.
Here are some example requests/past experiences:
-
- Split a 3.0m cable into three shorter cables. The customer expectation that he/she would be getting three 1.0m pairs.
- In this case the net result would be two 1.0m and one 0.7m cable to ensure that the resultant cables are as long as factory terminated cables.
- There would be the expectation that each set of cables have its own identification logos.
- Labor for doing this is double the time to build from scratch. Think home renovations.
- Convert RCA cables to XLR cables and vice versa.
- Some cables like the Signature are distinctly different in construction.
- For some models cable length would have to be shortened since RCA and XLR connector diameters are different.
- Convert speaker cables from spade to banana.
- Fix broken cables.
- In this case, the seller (original owner) should get us to do this work in advance of listing the product.
- Request for a minor fix, then find out that the original cable was significantly damage or altered (DIY style)
- Convert headphone cable from 3.5mm TRS to Sennheiser HD650. Shorten cable length.
- Ask for a modification with the seller sending the cables to us, then expecting us to forward the cable on to the buyer.
- In some cases the seller and buyer are in different countries and there are customs/brokerage fees that we get stuck paying.
- Receiving not as advertised cables from the seller then having to explain this to the buyer.
- Cables getting lost in transit or not even being shipped to us.
- Split a 3.0m cable into three shorter cables. The customer expectation that he/she would be getting three 1.0m pairs.
Purchasing our products used from the Internet can offer good value. Here are a few tips for better outcomes:
