Speaker Cable Questions
Q: What would happen (sound-wise) if I
take a biwire cable (2 conductors bundle) but instead of terminating
it for biwire a ask you to terminate it like a single wire. How will
the sound by impacted ? I'm asking that because must of the biwire
I've tried improve the bass respond but over emphasys the high
frequency.
A: One common mistake people take is to take a single wire speaker
cable with four conductors (two positive and two negative) and split
it so four connectors can be placed on the speaker end. However
because the wire gauge for the bass is now halved, the bass output
becomes weaker which may also result in an unbalanced sound between
low an high frequencies. Our bi-wire speaker cable consists of
two pairs of single-wire speaker
conductors, which of course increases the price but does not cause
the bass to suffer. See the following image, which shows the
speaker cable design.
Q: Will you split the conductors in your
single-wire speaker at the speaker end to provide an in expensive
bi-wire speaker cable option?
A: We do not offer this option. See the answer to the above question
for an explanation.
Q: I have loudspeakers with a single set of
binding posts. I would like to get a speaker cable with the maximum
gauge possible. Can you terminate the bi-wire as single-wire to
double the gauge?
A: Configuring bi-wire speaker cable as single-wire to increase the
gauge is a common request of our customers. The bi-wire cable is
simply terminated with a single set of connectors at both the
speaker and amplifier ends.
